The video section

What fans get from the video section: the landing, competition video homes, categories, collections, playlists and playback.

2026-11-07

This page is what fans get from the video section; how it is built — the media package, the video routes and the livestream seam — is in Media and video architecture. Video is one of the site's two bolt-on domains, composed on top of the editorial content. Today's release delivers a complete anonymous (signed-out) video experience; gated, membership-tier video is planned for v2.

What ships today

Page What it is URL shape Status
Video landing The video home — featured video, rails, collections, a block of categories /en/video Available
Competition video home A competition's own video landing page; a temporary page where a competition has none yet /en/video/eurocup Available
Video detail A single video with player and related content /en/video/{idOrSlug} Available
Video category Every video in a category, filterable by season, team and competition, page by page /en/video/category/{category}, …/season/2025-26/page/2 Available
Collection A curated group of videos /en/video/collections/{collection} Available
Playlist An ordered playlist /en/video/playlists/{playlist} Available

The Corporate section has no video home, by configuration. These pages come from the video route package and its UI components (27 components — hero, cards, rails, progress lists). Browse them in the UI catalogue. Videos also appear outside the video section — on team, player and coach pages and in the Game Centre.

Playback

Video plays through the Stadion platform video SDK, with three playback providers wired:

  • Mux — Euro League's provider. Video Items in Contentful hold their video in Mux, and it plays through Mux's hosted player.
  • Brightcove — HLS/DASH streaming through Brightcove's web player.
  • YouTube — for YouTube-hosted content, through YouTube's privacy-enhanced embed.

The video hero and video cards also play a short muted preview inline (the hero's autoplay, a card's hover), falling back to the platform's animated preview image where the stream cannot be played. See Integrations and the Media package.

Where the video data comes from

Unlike editorial content, the video library is not authored as pages in Contentful — video metadata comes from the platform video API through the media integration, including the category page's videos and its season, team and competition filters. Contentful holds what the platform has no answer for: which Video Landing Page is the default, the Video Landing Pages themselves, the categories block on the landing, and which competition each video belongs to. This keeps the video library in the platform that owns it, while the pages, theming and layout are the site's.

On gated video (v2)

Each video carries an entitlement tier. Today, only anonymous-tier videos render as playable; anything requiring membership renders as gated. Sign-in itself now exists — fans can sign in with their EuroLeague ID (Cortex single sign-on, @v4/cortex-sso) — but no video entitlement reads it yet, so member, premium or VIP tiers cannot be unlocked. Treat gated video as roadmap.
